And we thought the real problem in the music industry was album sales. According to HipHopgame.com, The Eastern States Exposition has canceled their upcoming Ludacris concert scheduled to take place in West Springfield, MA due to poor ticket sales. How Poor? Well president Wayne McCary of the ESE said fewer than 700 tickets had been sold for an arena that holds 6,100 people.Â
Ouch that hurts. Now if we’re lead to believe that musicians are struggling because of illegal downloading or iTunes and a decline in traditional record sales how can this happen? One would have to believe the ability for fans to now easily and more affordably own their favorite artists music would increase concert tickets sales where the artist usually makes most of its money anyway. I guess Ludacris isn’t that relevant after all. Perhaps he wasn’t stupid in selling off DTP Records a few years back.Â
