WASHINGTON (Reuters) - More than 1 million of the popular “Thomas & Friends” wooden railway toys made in China are being voluntarily recalled because some may contain lead paint, the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission said on Wednesday.

WASHINGTON (Reuters) - More than 1 million of the popular “Thomas & Friends” wooden railway toys made in China are being voluntarily recalled because some may contain lead paint, the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission said on Wednesday.
This is gonna cause mad gamblin’. About 1.5 million wooden vehicles, buildings and other train-set parts for young children are being recalled, the CPSC said in a statement. The toys were sold in the United States from January 2005 through June 2007, the statement said.
Lead is toxic and can pose a serious health risk to young children who often put objects in their mouths. Children under 6 are most at risk.
“Consumers should take the recalled toys away from young children immediately and contact RC2 Corp. for a replacement toy,” the CPSC said.

this is a huge problem. often children with autism spectrum disorders (ASD) love trains and parents of those children spend tons of money on thomas the train products. if you attend the autism walk in pgh you will see tons of thomas the train shirts and toys. they have day out with thomas in stradsburg, pa and many families with children that have an ASD come out. many parents of children with autism worry about lead, mercury, and other toxins that may exacerbate or cause the impairments in their children. thank you for the posting.
Thomas is popular among all types of kids. So i think this will affect all kids in general.
