Jessica Alba says she’s not Hispanic anymore…or never was.
So I guess she’s just straight up white…at leaset in her ow mind.
Â
Celebrity Tabloid blog Perezhilton has been all over Jessica Alba today for some reason.  The super sexy actress has never been one to “identify” with her Mexican ancestry choosing instead to call herself “American.” I’m American too trick, I’m also Dominican and oh by the way African…American as well.  The website has quoted many of Alba’s recent magazine interviews including one with el Nuevo Dia, a Spanish-speaking publication Alba basically denounced her Hispanic heritage.Â
“Alba is my last name and I’m proud of that. But that’s it…If you break it down, I’m less Latina than Cameron Diaz, whose father is Cuban. But people don’t call her Latina because she’s blonde.”Â
Nah sweety that was a blonde comment. Alba is a third generation Mexican-American whose Grandfather chose to drop his Mexican heritage because he was the only Hispanic at school, the workplace or at his country-club. Duhhhh! Trying to make sure his children didn’t feel different in America. He and my grandmother didn’t speak Spanish to them. Alba says “Now, as a third-generation American, I feel as if I have finally cut loose”Â
Wow. I’m sorry. Perhaps its easier to as a New Yorker to feel comfortable in your own skin. You’re constantly surrounded by a melting pot of different races, cultures and beliefs so to be proud of your own is only natural. This past weekend I witnessed millions of people celebrate at the National Puerto Rican Day Parade, many of them aren’t even Puerto Rican or been to Puerto Rico. For them its all about culture, learning and partying. But Alba would have you believe the colored thing is a “fad”
“I always felt like such an outcast and now I feel like people are more diverse ethnically. I was always self conscience of my puffy lips and darker skin when I was a kid, because I felt like I didn’t fit in. And now its mainstream, and color isn’t as big of a deal and if anything its better.”
I don’t get it. The Dominican Republic is one of the poorest countries you’ll ever visit but still yet one of the most beautiful. I am proud of my heritage no matter how many generations I am removed or how bad my Spanish is. But then again look at her father. He’s not exactly reinforcing her heritage.Â
“George Lopez starts speaking to my father in Spanish, and my dad says, ‘I don’t speak Mexican.’ I turned purple. I love my papa. But he has no filter. I probably acquired that characteristic from him.”
    - Us Weekly
Does this piss you off as it does me that even though we as black people can Shuck and give on stage to entertain or as Hispanics can perform before thousands on the ball field, and society doesn’t respect us enough to make it cool to identify with your heritage. In a way I can understand why Alba wouldn’t want to be seen as Mexican with the way their viewed in this country but why is that? Â

between this and the pictures of her drooling water out of her mouth Ms. Alba is losing some serious points with me. As a person who come from very mixed heritage I’ve always liked looking a little different than “the average black guy”. I got teased for my thin nose and cleffed chin as a kid but it never bothered me because it made me different.
As I read these comments by Alba I realized what she was trying to do. She was trying to justify her role as Sue Storm in Fantastic Four. In the comics Sue Storm is a blond haired blue eyed average everyday white woman and I always thought Alba was an odd choice for the role given that she doesn’t have that look. Even after hair & makeup she looks weird in the part (the blue contacts look crazy). I’m guessing that Jessica isn’t exactly comfortable with how true comic fans have reacted to her being cast for the role. So basically she is tryin to convince the world she looks white and not mexican or maybe she’s actually trying to convince herself.
she’s wack
Ah stop hating Dos Un. Good catch Gleb. I noticed in the wedding scenes from the movie they were really trying to make her have a more caucasian look by lightening up her hair and features with a lot of make-up.
Perez Hilton has had it in for her since day one. Perez Hilton can, and hopefully will, fuck off.
That is really sad. I was always a bit hesistant about supporting this lady, something always didn’t feel quite Kosher about her.
I’m not here to throw salt on shorty. I mean I think she’s bad and an ok actress I’m asking is she wrong for denouncing that bit of her heritage. I mean she is generations removed.
On one hand, I can see why people would be upset. She does sound very ignorant about her background, and her own disdain for Mexicans comes through. But on the other hand, besides the fact that her grandfather is Mexican, she has no real cultural ties to Mexico. She doesn’t speak spanish, she wasn’t raised in a Mexican household, she has no ties to it.
And besides, if she doesn’t identify herself that way, why should we force this on her? I think there are enough people who feel pride in themselves who are sucessful that one little untalented pop tart isn’t going to keep La Raza down.
Seriously, does she HAVE to identify with just her mexican heritage? She’s half white too. Why doesn’t anyone say anything about that? Being mixed myself, i dont see the point in trying to identify with just ONE race. And why should she? People don’t understand that she’s not bashing, she’s just letting people know, ‘hey this is how i was raised’. And the whole being self conscious about being different, i think everybody feels that way if they’re not brought up in a diverse area. And she’s right, being a woman or man of color is more accepted now by the media and stuff so why is that a bad comment? Its hard to feel like you fit in when you’re mixed because you’re not enough mexican for the mexicans, and not white enough for the white people. And i’m sorry but the first comment she made does not denounce her latina heritage. She’s just saying, people are trying to pinhole her into being a latina actress and she just wants to be seen as an american girl.
I have always thought her being cast as that character in F4 was an odd look, it looks like someone trying to pass as white. Sometimes parents can really screw their children up!
LAX said that she`s half white & that there isn`t a point in trying to identify with just ONE race. so why should she just stick to her white side? doesn`t that make her identify to just one race? if she has hispanic in her, she should be woman enough to stand up & be proud of it. don`t put ALL the blame to her parents & grandparents…she should be willing to, on her own, learn about her cultures & represent who she is.
If she never worked again I wouldn’t miss her. If she doesn’t like being Mexican then that is on her and her people. As for her white side, no one looks at her and thinks she is white. She can say she is white all she wants to. She looks mixed. She will always be mixed. No getting around it.
If she wants to make ignorant statements so be it. Life goes on. She’ll no longer have the support of some and get a screw face.
When you want to be accepted so bad by society you tend to lose your identity (or try to lose it).
I was gonna go see the new Fabulous Four but now I think I’m going to skip that movie..I’m not spanish but I’m african american I feel that she needs to look in the mirror very deeply..because she doesn’t look white..she should be proud of who she is..All these spanish people think that going blonde will make them look more white and less spanish..but it just makes a person look like a clown..Jessica Alba should be proud of her heritage..I honestly feel that her and everyone should learn more about their history..Another one that needs to look in the mirror is Cameron Diaz..When she had her hair black that really showed her ethnic features..She needs to take that blonde out of her hair…Then you have actors and actresses that one to change their last names so that they could fit in…The face shows everything…Jessica acts like she was the only person made fun of because of something..So many men I’m sure have her on their destop and one of the reasons is because she is so exotic looking…they like her spanish roots…and for her to say that she’s ashamed of her roots..they should turn their backs on her..
Hmm she did say she was proud for having a hispanic last name, but if she does not celebrate her culture and doesn’t identify with it why should she want to be called latina. She is American after all, plus if you grew up in a predominately cauasian school and your black, hispanic, or asian… seeing all the girls with blue eyes and blonde hair and pointed noises, im pretty sure you’ll look down on yourself being as a young individual… im not saying what she said was right, she could have kept that to herself but i see where she is comming from…
Well, S-Dot……. if she is “several generations removed” then perhaps African-Americans should NOT call themselves AFRICAN-American and simply just…… AMERICAN. This is your reasoning and supposedly makes sense. Fine, then I expect Jesse Jackson to take back all his statements which led to the invention of the term.
Lets not get it twisted. I’m not African. I don’t know how far back my heritage has to go to get back to Africa. All I know is my Grandma can’t communicate with me unless I keep my spanish on point. I go to my aunts house and eat Habichelas and arroz con pollo. That’s a part of me I’m proud of. I’m Dominican. As far as being BLACK, i’m proud of that too. It’s represented not so much in my skin color but who I am, my features and my history. All that is American however. I honor my relatives who made me who I am…no the continent of Africa Wilma.
The girl is from POMONA, CALIFORNIA as am I. That city is full of minorities so her comments about “puffy lips, darker skin” and “not fitting in” is bogus. It’s not like she was raised in Orange County. She needs to get over herself and accept her ethnic roots.
Jessica was born in America. she’s American. No matter where her parents may be from SHE is American. why should she pretend to be anything else?
Yes, Jessica is American… her dad is American too, Mexico is part of the American Continent!
I don’t understand how someone could so blatantly be ashamed of their roots. Because of the weird mix she is, which is like Danish, French, blah blah, and MEXICAN she looks the way she does. She’s a pretty creature, but please. She’s not that talented and is an embarrassment to the Hispanic world. I’m Hawaiian, Costa Rican, Mexican, and Spanish and I never claim anything other than what I am. So regardless of what this woman says, she’s part ‘beaner.’ Plain and simple.
This girl just has issues!!!! I mean seriously, I’m Latina of Mexican desent born in America…..rised in a country rural white town…..did I look different yes, was I confussed for being mixed Yes (people would think I was Asian or Native American mixed with White….uhhhh both my parents are of Mexican/Spanish descent!!!!!) was I excepted YES…..why maybe because I had enough confidence in myself, raise in a home who vauled family history & was comfortable with the way I looked…..soooo, I got involved made friends with everyone, recieved an excellent college education & get this in a household that I was brought up with very American values & get this all while speaking spanish & english at home!!!!
In the end, I guess we could use story of blaming her grandfather for changing his ways & disconnecting to his Mexican roots during back in the day…..oh wait, My grandfather experince that too except for mine (unlike hers) had enough BALLS to hold up his roots & stand up for his rights & voice his heritage no matter what anyone else thought, because of that my parents never wanted us to loose our spanish tongue.
I honor my family & the struggles of civil rights that generations before me had to go through to get Mexican-Americans were they are today. To pay respect to those who made me who I am today, I hold both my American & Mexican heritage close to my heart.
Personally, I hope her career sinks to the bottom & will regret the day she said that comment…..& to be honest with you I do wish her the worst in her acting career from this day on…….
So when people say put yourselves in her shoes…well my life is no Jessica Alba life but generation wise & family wise its not to far off & like comment above I too claim my heritage no matter how many generations go by….it must be a true LATINA thing!!!!!
IF JESSICA ALBA WANTS TO BE CONSIRED AMERICAN LET HER, THE TERM AMERICAN MEANS NATIONALITY NOT RACE JACKASSES. KNOW YOUR ENGLISH PROPERLY AND GET OVER YOURSELF, “OH LOOK AT ME AND MY ETHNIC BACKROUND, PLEASE.” IT’S OK TO BE PROUD OF WHO YOU ARE, BUT DON’T HAVE A PERSONAL AGENDA ABOUT AND LET THE WHOLE WORLD KNOW LIKE ITS MANDOTORY TO DO SO. GET OVER YOURSELF YOUR NOT THAT SPECIAL THAT INCLUDES ALL RACES NOT JUST THE MIXED HISPANICS.
JESSICA PROBABLY WOULD RATHER BE CALLED AMERICAN BACAUSE IT SIMPLFIES WHAT SHE IS, AN AMERICAN. IT’S THAT FRAME OF MIND MANY HISPANICS HAVE TO LET EVERYONE KNOW WHAT THEY ARE OR THEIR NEED TO “REPRESENT” THAT’S WHY YOU FAILED TO ASSIMULATE INTO AMERICAN SOCIETY AND THATS WHY PEOPLE AUTOMATICALLY THINK YOUR FOREIGN AND HOLD NO ALLEGIANCE TO THIS COUNTRY, WHICH IN TETURN THEY TREAT YOU LIKE AN OUTSIDER IN SOCIETY. THE SOONER YOU GET OVER YOURSELF THE BETTER FOR YOU, THEN PEOPLE WOULD CONSIDER YOU AS A FELLOW AMERICAN. JESSICA HAS IT RIGHT ON THIS ISSUE, ITS NOT LIKE SHE DENOUNCE BEING MEXICAN SHE JUST SAID THE TRUTH, SHE’S MEXICAN YEAH BUT THAT’S NOT ALL SHE REALLY IS; AND SHE HAPPENS TO BE BORN IN AMERICA WHICH MAKES HER AMERICAN. SHE IS INDEED AN AMERICAN ACTRESS. IF SHE WERE IN THE OLIMPICS THEY WOULD CLASIFY HER AS AN AMERICAN NOT A SPECIAL EXCEPTION AND SAY “OH SHE’S AMERICAN BUT ALSO WITH SOME MEXICAN DECENT.”
GET OVER YOURSELF LATINOS, SPANIARDS MADE A MISTAKE MIXING IN WITH YOU THAY FINALLY PULLED OUT AND STOPPED THE BLEEDING OR BLENDING FOR THAT MATTER NAD GOT OUT OF NEW SPAIN TO TURN IT TO A SHIT HOLE CALLED MEXICO. BUT AT LEAST THEY WEREN’T THE ONLY ONES FRANCE GOT IN ASWELL TILL THEY TOO LEFT THAT SHITTY COUNTRY WHICH IS CELEBRATED TODAY AS CINCO DE MAYO. YEAH YOU WON YOUR INDEPENDENCE TO LATER NOT MAKE GOOD USE OF IT DESPITE THE ABUNDANT RESOURCES THERE, WHICH WERE THE REASON THE SPANISH AND FRENCH WHENT THERE IN THE FIRST PLACE. THERE IS NO REASON WHY MEXICO IS PRETTY MUCH A 3RD WORLD WHEN,”SNOW COVERED CANADA IS A STABLE ECONOMY.” SO YEAH BE PROUD OF BEING MEXICAN LIKE ITS MUCH TO SHOW FOR. WHAT ARE MEXICANS KNOWN FOR, INVENTING THE AIRPLANE, LANDING ON THE MOON, STARTING THE RENAISSANCE, OR INVENTING THE COMPUTER, LET SEE NONE! AT LEAST ASIANS ARE CONTRIBUTING TO TECHNOLOGY BUT YU DON’T SEE THEM AS REPRESENTING OR AS PASSIONATE ABOUT IT FOR THAT MATTER.
Well Mike, as another fellow already previously stated America is a continent, not a country and consequently american is NOT a nationality. To make it extra clear every Mexican or for that matter every latin american is american.
@Mike. “KNOW YOUR ENGLISH PROPERLY”. Quote of the week right there buddy.
I think people often get race, nationality and ethic group confused. Yes Jessica is American. Thats her nationality but that is not her race or ethnic group and thats what we are dicussing here. The fact that she is denoucing her race and the culture of her ancestors is the issue. The fact that she is American born shouldnt be a factor
Hey Mike you really sound racist and very ignorant and a lot of people do. You know, it’s really sad. Maybe if people like you stopped stereotyping us latinos as stupid and criminals this situation wouldn’t be in place.
Mike you are a moran. As Gleb said I was talking about race/ her heritage. She’s the one who is mixing up the two. She is American not Mexican but that has nothing to do with her being Hispanic.
But I’ll give mike a gold star for posing a good question. Why is Mexico perceived as such a 3rd world nation? The land is habitable and they have sufficient resources. I know there’s a high level of political unrest. Good question though.
viva la raza? ignorant ass. La Raza, sure whatever, you’r enot mexican, most mexicans her ein the US raised her who spout this nonsense aren’t mexicans they’re social retards who like designer names and money they get in the US, they love their nike and the chicago bulls or La Lakers, and would get their assess handed to them back in Mexico, viva la raza? then go back to mexico. Seems mostly haters who have nothing say this, or haters who by miracle of god make it and then claim this statement to make sure their loser fans and friends still speak to them. and FYI yeah I am a native spanish speaker, which country is none of you bussiness, i was raised with salsa, mernegue, pasteles, spanish and sabado gigante. My grandparents made sure i distinguished something where i came from and how i am. I came from that background and am proud of it and happy to be raised in it, but i AM an american and even more proud of that, and also happy to be raised with baseball, mom and apple pie and donna reed re runs. Lay of the woman it’s not ignorance it’s a difference of oppinion and a woman proud of who she is and who has become part of this country and all it’s people instead of trying to seperate herself from others. she’s not being a race traitor or being “white” she’s being american, and I for one am still proud of that and proud of her syaing it.
I can almost understand why Jessica might shy away from proclaiming that she’s Mexican. I definitely won’t deny that people of Mexican descent are no worse than anyone else, and that there are so many Mexicans that are successful and polished… but the reality is that Mexicans are tagged with the stereotype of being uneducated, poor, and frumpy. It also doesn’t help that many illegal immigrants hail from Mexico, but with such a negative focus on Mexicans in general, it generally isn’t surprising that Jessica, who wants to be viewed in the best way possible, strays from that identity. Of course, if she did embrace her heritage, she could be considered a “Latina rolemodel” just like J-Lo is.
what a dumb, egotictical, selfish, stuck up, fugly, twistedly ugly bodied self loathing latina. “i finally cut loose”?????!! WTF?????
im from Spain, of Castillian decent, and i am extremely proud of my heritage. not because my family has money, but because im proud to be who i am, wether i was german, african, indian, asian, irish, itlaian, etc. america is a melting pot! shoot, i learned that in 4th grade geography! Anonymous, i agree, you said “and that there are so many Mexicans that are successful and polished… but the reality is that Mexicans are tagged with the stereotype of being uneducated, poor, and frumpy. It also doesn’t help that many illegal immigrants hail from Mexico, but with such a negative focus on Mexicans in general, it generally isn’t surprising that Jessica, who wants to be viewed in the best way possible, strays from that identity.”
she is just trying to hide from her nationality, and i dont know WHY!!! EMBRACE your nationality, your heritage, your roots!!!! its disgusting and insulting to me to hear her say such awful things.
ive NEVER liked her, not her looks, her body, her attitude makes posh beckham look like a down-to-earth generous, sweet ANGEL!!! and her movies? nope, no good, not in idle hands, not in F4, and certianly NOT in sin city where her “dance” was a complete and utter idoit parade. a jackass festival. tickle me elmo could have done a better job.
now that i have sullied “the alba” ( more like albaTROSS with those pop eyes and fishy lips ) go ahead, say im gay, im stupid, blind, ‘retarded’, ugly, fat, a looser OR jealous. this is america, where we all have our own opinions, and this is MINE. and i am NONE of those aformentioned.
shes more annoying than parasite herpes, and one thing they have in common is ( other than being whiny bratty useless cum dumsters ) that albatross has a little VD of her own! and YES it IS herpes!!!! look at this pic of her lip— i promise you, just look at her ugly fish lip, the bottom one, and youll see a HUGE ass herpes sore!!!!
http://thesuperficial.com/image.php?path=/2007/06/jessica-alba-ff2-premiere-05.jpg
Um Hello! She is American not Mexican she was born her not there. There are nothing abnormal about her personal views on her own Hispanic background lots of people just like her feel the same way.
Anyhow now that I’m done with being “PC”.
I don’t know, I really don’t feel that hating Mexicans is being raciest, I don’t see them as a race I really don’t see them as anything, human or likewise.
Jessica isn’t in denial of her Mexican roots. She’s always made mention of everything that’s in her mix (Mexican, French Canadian, and Dutch, I believe). She’s never tried to hide anything. She just doesn’t want to be called a Latina. The Mexican side of her family has been in America for a few generations. She doesn’t speak Spanish. She feels very American.
Why is it that “ethnic” looking actors and actresses have to connect and/or identify with their roots, whereas others are allowed to be, or are accepted as, regular old Americans.
Actress Kate Hudson is 1/4 Italian. We don’t insist that she only relate to that part of her heritage, and call herself Italian American. Cameron Diaz is half Cuban. We don’t insist that she call herself a Latina, or disregard her mother’s heritage and refer to herself as Cuban-American. Frankie Muniz (Malcom in the Middle) is half Puerto Rican, we don’t refer to him as Latino, or insist that her refer to himself as Puerto Rican.
As far as whites not accepting Jessica as one of their own goes, only racist white people would feel that way. At the same token, only racist non-whites would insist that she isn’t white, and would remind her of it as well. The rest of us wouldn’t care, and would embrace her as American — one of us. In actuality, I think there are more non-whites that insist she’s ethnic than whites. Most of us really don’t care.
Most Americans are very ethnically, and sometimes racially, mixed. A lot of us make mention, and are proud of, what’s in our individual combinations, just like Jessica is. But all in all we feel American. That is to say, we connect more with being American than anything else. We’re not like most other homogeneous societies, and that’s what makes us Americans unique.
Tudo bem? RSP
comigoesta tudo optimo.
bejinhos.
what a fucking dumbass
no talent, no brains, no looks and no respect for her heritage
plus she dissed the troops:
http://bradpita.typepad.com/bradpita/2007/05/jessica_alba_di.html
read, shes NO good. those are OUR troops!!!! my god, there righting for US!!!! and she disses them like that?! she needs to pull her egotisical inflated fugly faced head out of her celu-FAT-y ass and fucking get with it.
one day…. everyone will be over her
People are so color struck…and just damned ignorant and confused. LOL.
From the very first post on this thread where the ‘mixed’ dude writes, ‘I kinda liked not looking like your average black guy,’ you can detect the crazy.
Er, just WHAT does the average black guy look like? Jason Kidd? Fifty Cent? Will Smith? Vin Diesel? Denzel? Harry Belafonte? Sidney Poitier? Barack Obama? Wentworth Miller? Reggie Miller? Shemar Moore? Boris Kodjoe? Kobe Bryant? Terrence Howard?
You get my point.
There’s no ‘average’ characteristic - those brothers all look different. Some are mixed with one parent id’ing as a diff race than black, some are not. You wouldn’t know who was who. Prince had two black parents, Lenny Kravitz had one - they’re both black, look nothing alike. Vanessa Williams has two black parents, Halle Berry has one, yet Vanessa has the blonde hair and blue eyes. To be black is diversity itself, so ‘Evorgleb’s’ post is just ridiculous.
That’s the problem sometimes with confused people of mixed origin, like Jessica Alba, they WANT desperately to BE special…when in reality they are not - and sometimes they actually appear more ethnic, or more of one specific race, than those people who do NOT claim mixed parentage (defined as where the parents id as different ethnicities/races). I think that’s Jessica’s problem, she resents her inability to pass (see the resentful comments on Cam Diaz). Eva Longoria and Eva Mendes BOTH could be cast as Italians or ethnicities before Alba, and I think based on her already built-in shame factor, that really bugs her.
News to Jessica…you were called ‘DARK’ angel for a reason. The blonde wig in Fantastic four looked as ridiculous as Queen Latifah’s blonde wig in Hairspray.
Accept yourself - and your ‘Mexican culture’ that you grew up in according to your own words. Being a Latina isn’t ONLY about speaking spanish. It’s about embracing your culture, even the painful stories you know from your Grandfather. THAT is your reality, your own battle against stereotypes is your reality - the answer isn’t to shun, it’s to accept and instead of changing yourself, change the world.
^ Guess You are refering to me. Yes black people come in many different looks but there is definately an average look. People who have all the features that are accociated with that race. The average black person has full lips but that is not the case with all.
As for me having a desire to be special, every person should want to stand out in a crowd. Its called “being an individual”
Jessica never said that she wasn’t of Mexican descent or that she wants to be white. She said that she doesn’t like being called LATINA. With that label comes an expectation that you speak Spanish and be rooted in the culture of Latin America.
Well, Jessica is a third generation English speaking American. Plus her mother is white. So please tell me why she’s supposed to have the same culture as a Latin American immigrant?
She’s an AMERICAN. And American doesn’t just mean “white only.”
The people criticizing her haven’t been here that long, and aren’t assimilated themselves. They want everybody to be held back like them. Running around with those stupid flags wanting everybody to “represent.” Bunch of idiots.
YOU GUYS are the embarassment. Not Jessica.
wha wha wha wha
Why are some idiots freaking out because she considers herself to be an American? Her grandparents were born in America and she speaks English. I wasn’t even born here but I consider myself an American. English is my first language and I have more in common with western culture than with the culture where I came from. If she were forced to move to mexico, She would be as lost as most Americans. Do white people run around labeling themselves as German or Russian Americans? No, because they are confident to represent themselves as individuals. It seems like many minorities have nothing to be proud of except for their race or ethnicity? That’s pretty sad.
She can say that she doesn’t speak spanish, or that she doesn’t feel Latina because she was never accepted as she was mixed. But she doesn’t have to put Latinos down with the other comments that she made. One thing is being a proud American, another is dying where you come from AND insulting other’s with comments as, “I feel as if I have finally cut looseâ€. Cut loose from what?! Is having Latin roots that bad? I don’t speak Mexican? Her father is such a loser. Mexicans speak spanish idiot. How rude. I’m not Mexican but i sure as hell would be offended if someone said that to me if I were to say something in Italian, he could’ve politely have said, I’m sorry I don’t speak spanish. Simple, no need to insult other’s with your ignorance. What is wrong with being bilingual anyway? She can be a proud American, there’s nothing wrong with that at all, but that is not what her problem is. Her problem is people identifying her with the people she, and her family consider shameful to be related to because, they’d not WHITE. And thats the honest truth. I loved this chick, but she has zero personality, and she really needs to wake up and smell the coffee, because looks aren’t everything, besides they’re fading! The thing’s she has said about the Latin “culture” sicken me. JESSICA, GET SOME ACTING LESSONS ON HOW TO SEEM SINCERE WHEN SMILING AT THE CAMERA AND AT FANS! Oh and maybe you weren’t accepted by ‘them’ because you’re stuck up and looked down upon them! So be a proud American, its all good, it’s how it should be, BUT don’t go putting down your roots, putting down their ethnicity and stop stereotyping them you stupid herpes, one night stand loving, pompous, anorexic, self hating, talentless #$%^&!
So she wants to be an American? Why should she be ashamed? I wouldn’t like it if people always pointed me out as being black. I know what race I am so why do I need people to remind me?
NO matter were she came from shes still is hispanic it is in her blood and ancestry shes stupid to even say a stupid shit like that
she sucks, plain and simple. but i doubt shed know what to do with a cock if someone showed her a pop up book and read it to her. she looks like she smells rank too. i love that her man, change or whatever his name is, cheated on her with vera mishina!!!!!!
hey, id get sick if the herpes pustules as well.
In my opinion Jessican is right when she says” I’m not a Latina actress ,I’m an American….” she is third generation…she doesn’t speak spanish, wasn’t influenced by mexican culture, her heritage is half mexican….danish and french. she doesn’t consider herself french or danish actress so why should she be considered a latina actress???? the reason why people are so upset is because she doesn’t look like your typical “white” girl…cameron diaz or cristina aguilera are thought of as white…It was funny when Aguilera made her album is spanish alot of hispanics were saying oh she is trying to be a latina…since it’s in now…with J.LO and all…lol- people are ingnorant and judge others based on their appearance that’s why they expect her to say yes i’m a latina actress just because I look like one-I understand being latin is not a race-latinos are people of black, white, asian, etc. descent who share the same culture, language and were born in south america or the carribean-she wasn’t -she was born in U.S and so were her parents! should John Travolta consider himself an itallian actor because of his last name???? NO-he is an american actor-I will admit though although I’m white…her message was offensive, sterotypical and ignorant…when talking about mexican women popping babies and finally cutting loose-it def sounds like she’s got some self-hatred issues and complex-she is no meryl streep but a beautiful woman and should resolve her issues-at the same time the latino community needs to calm down about her not considering herself a latina actress…although I def understand being offended for her other ignorant statements.
You hit the nail on the head right there..her comments were stereotypical and offensive regardless of what race you identify with. As far as the Latino community is concerned, this isn’t a Latino thing its about Jessica. She’s the one who made the comments. No one had a problem with her either way until she did. Its her actions that caused the uproar…no one was asking her to waive the flag.
well y cant speak really good english but you need be proud off your root skin, hair color ,she is precious woman ,her body, her face is her roots but she live in united states , she take school in united states , so is diferent thinks ,you are your roots genes be proud of that , american is a nation thats it .
I think that it isn’t right that people be ashamed of there culture, and I think that you were hinting that in california people might not be to proud of being Mexican, that isn’t true because we are practicaly the majority here and just because we aren’t having well known parades like the puerto rican parade doesn’t mean we don’t have pride. I don’t know who is worst camercan diaz or Jessica Alba even if they don’t know anything about their cultures they shouldn’t deny what is genetic..
She isn’t Hispanic; she’s American. For ethnicity, she is “other,” because of the fact that she’s half Hispanic and half Caucasian. She isn’t denying anything; she’s just being as honest (and as accurate) as possible.
I think that she has the right to say that she wasn’t raised with mexican values and all, as she wasn’t also regarding her french or danish or whatever heritage… but def the main problem is the disgusting things she said about mexican women having loads of children and “mexican” instead of “spanish” (you can keep these things to yourself, at least…), you can feel she’s racist herself and I know by my own experience, that’s the worst type of racist, the ones who try to be someone that they’re not and think that they’re the “evolution” of their “race”, as though they’re the only ones who can think and behave like a well-educated person. My skin is white but I’m mixed and some people think that I should act like this or that due to my heritage. That’s bulls*** I am what I am (very creative, btw) but I’d never say such a mean, disgusting (I can’t find a suitable word for such a situation) person, giving a racist comment or saying something that could upset other people, no matter where they’re from. Sorry about the size of my comment
SHE’S STUPID ASS FUCK, doesn’t want to be half hispanic, hispanic, or w.e her case is, why didn’t she changed her last name to some american or “euro” surname!? She’s so stupid, just being her family taught them not to speak spanish doesn’t mean she’s no hispanic, she looks hispanic, and hispanics come in all different colors, white, black, tan, olive, blue-eyed, green eyed, hazel eyed etc, red hair, black hair, brown hair, blonde hair etc. She’s stupid to be ashame because thats what it is. She should be proud, and its nice to know and understand more than one language. I’m Italian and Spanish and so proud!
Perez hilton calls her Jessica “don’t call me hispanic” Alba lol. She’s a stupid bitch. Quit caring about what people think, be proud of who you are. Being of many backgrounds is awesome! Hill-Billies think they should be only one. Almost everyone is of mixed background in america so i think its bullshit that there;s even racism in this country!
i share your sentiment ladies, thats wzup
J. Alba is a very beautiful girl, and I think we can all agree upon that. However, that very unique beauty she has would never have existed without all the elements in her heritage…including the HISPANIC. I find it very sad that she grew up with a father who encouraged her to shirk ANY part of her heritage. Sadly, he wasn’t MAN ENOUGH to say this is who I am and if you don’t like it you can fuck off. No wonder she is so confused. Whether she speaks the language or not, believes in her heritage or not, it will always be a part of her. Hopefully, she can learn to embrace that. She should hold her head up high, and say “yes, I’m hisapnic and american, and whatever else, and I’m proud of it all bc it makes me irreplaceable. Yet, I am me and I define myself and can be as diverse in my life as I am in all my films. ” Be happy because you have the best of all these different worlds, and many can identify with her.
By the way, without her hispanic bloodline she probably would have looked like every other run of the mill white actress. Those pouty lips and long, dark hair, and etc. separated her from the swarm of aspiring actresses AND WAS AN ASSET. She has an incredible, exotic look that makes people notice her and go “WOW!” She should be grateful because she might not have had a career without it. By the way, stop alienating the race which contributed to that powerful beauty. Hello? Supermodels come from Brazil for a reason.
THAT GIRL NEEDS TO RECOGNZE THAT SHE FULLY LATIN AND SHE SHOULDNT BE AMBARRESED DOES SHE KNOW HOW MANY PEOPLE WISH THEY SPOKE DIFFRENT LANGUAGES SHE IS JUST BEING IGNORANT CAUSE SHE MORE WETBACK THAN MY MAMA AND MY DADDY AND GRANDPARENTS TOO
dime
It’s horrifying to see how ignorant people are about the differences between race and ethnicity.
For known reasons people seem to expect non-white Hispanics to lie about the way they feel about this whole racial nonsense. I’m a brown-skinned Dominican male.I speak Spanish and I’m happy that I’m bilingual, but how dare racially proud Latinos who live trapped behind the illusion of race try to tell the rest of us how we should feel about anything or how we should “label” ourselves.
Have you ever head the term “7th generation British-American”? I don’t think so. This is just like when one of my black friends tried to tell me that we are all Africans. No we aren’t. People need to read more.
How can you be proud of being Latino when you haven’t done a single thing to achieve it. You’re just born that way. I feel proud whenever I finished a good book or when I fixed my PC on my own because , obviously, I had to put some effort to do it.
And by the way, the same way that criticized Whites, Blacks or Asians I can criticized Latinos too. What?, You can’t denounced you “own people”?. That is such a lamentable philosophy.
Oh, and yes. Certain groups of Latinos (including Mexicans)do sometimes have too many children that more often than I would like to see they can’t even support. I guess saying that makes me a dissident.
Jessica Alba is very pretty but looks like a beaner and always will. Yeah she is born in America Pomona, Ca. (beaner land)like most of us are. But why is it that she can call herself American and all the whites are ok with that but when it comes to us. We are called Mexican American. Not just plain Americans…..
Oh and by the way Mexicans and Canadians are Americans too cause Mexico and Canada is part of North AMERICA.
This is a pretty silly thread.
American is someone born in the Americas.
Although — it has come to mean someone born in the USA.
Latina is a term with 1,001 definitions.
Would you think her “proud” if she said she was Danish?
I doubt it. You’d probably ridicule her for the claim.
Yet she is probably equally Danish and Amerindian.
The fact that Jessica Alba is married to a person of mixed race pretty much should end the whole discussion of her being anti-ethnic.
Her child is going to be a REAL mix — northern European, southern European, Amerindian and black.
HEY! That sounds…American!
Take a look at Sean Connery or Colin Farrell or Catherine Zeta Jones. If you changed their names and put Spanish names on them people would “see” them as “Latinos.”
A lot of what people perceive is in their heads.
And a lot of people aren’t who they think they are, either.
Take a DNA test some time — you might find out you have Jewish or Amerindian or some other ethnic group in your make up you were oblivious to…so– now who are you?
I THINK the sad thing is that Mexicans don’t see the media purge of their kind. Even in Los Angeles, a city filled with Mexican and Latin people the billboards will not sell to them. Beauty is something created by television and white people tell us only white people are allowed to have it.
F. Them is what I say. I think the darker skinned athletic bodies lips and eyes of women are beautiful. Also black women are beautiful BUT I feel like the one caveat in a commercial full of white women is a black women. She is supposed to represent the rest of the world.
First off, I am Mexican, and we are of meso-american indian descent(Mexica). Mexican-Americans (Chicanos) do not even know what they are! There has not been Spanish blood in you for over 500 years…lol, and with that said, it was mostly raped and forced upon our ancestors. As for Jessica Alba, she is a VENDIDA like so many other Mexican-Americans that claim their Latino when they are really Mexica (people of Meso-American indian roots). Mexican-Americans might carry a gene that makes them fair skin, but remember it was of a raped bloodline, and be proud of your Mexica heritage, not raped blood(Spanish, Hispanic, Latino, etc). Mexican=Mexica(people of meso-american indian descent) that’s what our independence is about. Todos los Chicanos son VENDIDOS.
Because knowledge is power you are not very knowledgeable when you say that the D.R. is one of the poorest nations you will ever visit.
It is quite frankly, one of the most prosperous latin american economies in the last 30 years.
Maybe you should visit.
Listen up everyone, Ethnicity and race are bot
