Hot Website: Pictogame.com, Say It With Games

One day I was reading about Google’s purchase of YouTube and it got me thinking, “Whats the ‘next YouTube’”. What is the next big site to take the Web 2.0 concept to the next level and probably turn a hand full of nerds into multi-millionaires. After thinking about it for a while I realized that the next step beyond video is games. My idea was to have a site where people ranging from amateur to professional could create games that could be embedded on websites, blogs and MySpace pages just like YouTube videos are. A genius idea right? Turns out I didn’t act fast enough and someone went and beat me to the punch, Pictogame.com

I happened to stumble upon Pictogame.com and they offer a site that is pretty much what I had in mind. The site is brand spanking new but currently allows users to create thier own games using available templates. Only a handfull of templates are availible now but it seems like new templates will be available often. Actually the site is so new that it is still in beta form.

Right now Pictogame.com is nothing more than a lot of potential. Hopefully the people behind the site will be able to reach that potential. I can only imagine how the site would take off if they opened the doorways for game creators to create their own templates. Then you may see movie companies creating viral games to help promote the next big summer block bluster. It could go way beyond movie companies though. There is no reason Pepsi couldn’t create a game to promote whatever crazy new version of Moutain Dew they have on the market. If the site was able to accomplish those things it could be huge. May not be not worth 3.69 Billion dollars but more than enough to make someone rich.

You can try out a Pictogame.com game below. Enjoy kicking the ish out of Tom Cruise.
