Like it’s powerful leader, Def Jam’s learning to reinvent itself

Like it’s powerful leader, Def Jam’s learning to reinvent itself
Def Jam’s marketing brass is taking it left field in attempt to revitalize the music industries marketing tactics and reach the buying public. Young Sav and Steve O, Def Jam’s marketing heads launched “The Subway Tour“ yesterday (Tuesday,) a unique program designed to promote artist to New York’s important young music marketplace during the times that kids go to school and get out of school.  Â
Starting with Jermaine Dupri’s new pup, Hot Dollar, young fans will have the chance to to interact with the new artist and get a real single dollar bill with Hot Dollar’s autograph. The tour will be documented by All Access DVD magazine, local and national press. Young Sav and Steve O also plan on issuing free rides to commuters out of High school courtesy of Hot Dollar. If you’re in the New York Area you can catch the tour TODAY (May 9) at on the N, Q, A & C (2PM-6PM)Â
It’s kind of cheesy but I definitely applaud the effort. That’s what this game needs guerilla marketing tactics. You need to reach the fans and stop making the fans have to jump through hoops to reach you. See what happens is you diss a fan, he/she turns around and says you know what he’s not so special I can do that, next thing you know you getting knocked out-of-the-box.

i dont know if they are really thinking outside the box. its like they are just doing the stuff the underground cats do all the time. i agree though that thats smart way to do things. reconnect with the people. let them know who you are. that untouchable profile the artists keep now may be part of the reason the average person doen’t care about new releases.
