17-old rapper/actor Lil Romeo, the son of rap mogul Master P, has signed a letter of intent to play basketball for the University of Souther California, the same college that top flight and NBA scouted O.J. Mayo signed onto.
The 6-foot junior athlete at Beverly Hills High averaged 13.9 points and 5.6 assists per game, and reportedly impressed coaches last summer at the ABCD Camp in New Jersey. Romeo and his best friend Demar Derozan recently visited the campus and told Coach Tim Floyd that they will both play for the school when they graduate next year.
Master P (Percy Miller), told FOXSports.com “It’s great for him. USC is a great school and I felt like he made a great decision.” Romeo is said to hang up his mic and acting career and focus solely on basketball and school while at USC.
Derozan, is 6-foot-6, 215 pounds and ranks 46th nationally in Scout.com’s list of the top junior players in the country. The duo will likely not play alongside the Lebron-like Mayo who is one year ahead of them. Although he will only begin his freshman year at USC in the fall, many believe he would have made the jump straight to the NBA already had their rules allowed. He will likely follow in the footsteps of Kevin Durant (Texas) and make the jump after one year.
Man what has this world come to? Master P’s seed is going to play for former Bulls coach, Tim Floyd at USC? The boy’s got skills like that? Honestly I’ve heard of this dude Derozan cause he put it on my alma mater, DeMatha this past fall in a holiday tournament. Perhaps USC is using Romeo to draw in the top prospect. Interesting story however huh?

Doubtful that he will make it in time for Mayo. Unless Mayo gets super hurt or has a subpar year he is gone. Us over at http://www.hurtmesoul.com are pleased he is going to get an education, however we just think its funny that this is news.
lil romeo does not have what it takes to play at usc
