It’s Thursday again and you need to know what to go see this weekend, so here are the previews for Friday the 13th….oooo scary. There are six, cout them six new movies (actually 14) new movies oming out, this is actually a good weekend to go see some flicks, it’s cold and there is a good variety out there (esprcially if your in NY or LA).
The ones not posted or previewed and reviewed below are, Everything’s Gone Green, Rock the Bells, Hair High, Private Fears in Public Places, Red Road, Lonely Heart and The Glamourous Life of Shachiko Hana because they are only being released in New York and Los Angeles, athough Hip Hop fans in those cities may want to check the documentary Rock the Bells. Also Aqua Teen Hunger Force comes out this weekend.  By the way the countdown begins…22 days until Spider-Man 3 is here.
- Year of the Dog (PG-13/Dark Comedy/2:15) is a comedy with deep insight into the life of Peggy (Molly Shanon formely of SNL) after she loses her best friend, companion and love of her life, her dog. Before many who will dismiss this ased off the premise of the movie, it is a heart felt movie that will make you laugh and think. I for one love my dog, but not as much as she does. This is a good movie to see if you have extra time and extra money, just make sure you take somone who will not judge you for seeing it. The movie stars: Molly Shanon, John C. Reily and Regina King.
- Redline (PG-13/Action, Drama/1:35) If you like The Fast and the Furious, 2 Fast 2 Furious, Fast and Furious Tokyo Drift Biker Boyz or any other racing movie, then this is for you. Fast Cars, beautiful women and a storyline. Although the story line differs a little by making a female mechanic the much wanted driver, it pretty much runs along the same lines. If you have a DVD player, then ou may want to wait for the early release of this, but if fast cars make you get that tingling feeling inside, then go see it. The movie stars: Angus Macfadyen, Nathan Phillips, Eddie Griffin, Nadia Bjorlin, Kevin Levrone , Wyclef Jean
- Slow Burn (R/Thriller, Mystery/1:33) Nora Timmer, a promising Assitant District Attorney, just confessed to killing a man in self defense. Ford Cole, the big city district attorney believes her and wants to get her off. Luther Pinks, an enigmatic stranger shows up an paints a totally different picture saying the Timmer is not innocent. This mystery/thriller will have you guessing until the end on what her fate will be. Lionsgate is known for releasing great movies, movies with a darker side, movies with great twists, movies that have a new edge that most Hollywood distributers do not give. On that note alone, this may be a good movie to go see, the other note is the cast, although not great stars, they have delivered good roles in the past. The movie stars: Ray Liota, James Todd Smith, Jolene Blalock, Mekhi Phifer, Taye Diggs and Guy Torry.
- The Perfect Stranger (R/Drama, Thriller/1:49) Halle Berry and Bruce Willis star in this thriller that follws investigative reporter RowenaPrice as she tries to discover who murders her friend. Her investigation leads her to a powerful ad executive, Harrison Hill. She goes undercover posing as as Katherine a temp. The story has been done, the charactrs have been played, this is pretty much a remake with out the title of being a remake. It did the R rating came from nudity, but cannot say who it is. This may be interesting, but you may want to pass and wait until it hits the cheap seats. Make sure if you go see this you say The Perfect Stranger because in some arkets a movie called Perfect Strangers is out there and if you get thwrong ticket……GAMBLE!
- Pathfinder (R/Action, Adventure/1:28) An action-adventure set in the time when Vikings tried to conquer North America, “Pathfinder” tells the heroic story of a young Norse boy left behind after his clan shipwrecks on the Eastern shores. Despite his lineage, the boy is raised by the very Indians his kinsmen set out to destroy. Now, as the Vikings return to stage another barbaric raid on his village, the 25 year-old Norse warrior wages a personal war to stop the Vikings’ trail of death and destruction. Forging his own path, his destiny is revealed and his identity re-claimed. This is a good movie to see if you like violence and a historical storyline, but it may be good as a DVD release.
- Disturbia (PG-13/Thriller/1:44) After his father’s death, Kale becomes sullen, withdrawn, and troubled - so much so that he finds himself under a court-ordered sentence of house arrest. His mother, Julie works night and day to support herself and her son, only to be met with indifference and lethargy. The walls of his house begin to close in on Kale. He becomes a voyeur as his interests turn outside the windows of his suburban home towards those of his neighbors, one of which Kale begins to suspect is a serial killer. But, are his suspicions merely the product of cabin fever and his overactive imagination? The movie sounds like it would be better with a R rating, a little nudity, a little sex, other words this movie sounds boring. It gets a pass until it comes on HBO. The movie stars: Shia LaBeouf, David Morse, Sarah Roemer, Carrie-Anne Moss, Aaron Yoo.
