Imus Gets Suspended 2 weeks but here’s what the media WON’T TELL YOU.
Aight let me start with full disclosure. I worked with this idiot over the last four years at the radio station. I can honestly say in that time I’ve never shared a word with the man. Aight let me start with full disclosure. I worked with this idiot over the last four years at the radio station. I can honestly say in that time I’ve never shared a word with the man. Like many “personalities†whether they be radio or TV, he is the epitome of unapproachable. (See David Letterman or Howard Stern.) The extent of our interaction was limited to his occasional morning grunt or forearm to my shoulder if I was in his way. But I knew my place right? After all I was a jigaboo right?
This dude is as racist as they come. But you know why I don’t fault him? Because he never masked it…until now. He’s ALWAYS said racist remarks. His show often makes fun of African-Americans and Latinos. As with many morning radio shows they do parodies, with favorite targets being Al Sharpton who is depicted in a horribly offensive Ebonic tongue and Omar Miniya, the General Manager for the New York Mets, who is portrayed with a horrible Hispanic accent. The problem is that Imus’ suspension will not kick in until NEXT WEEK. Just one day after he will complete the WFAN Radiothon which as has NOT BEEN REPORTED is the biggest charity fundraiser in NY RADIO HISTORY. At first, it sounds like its a good thing right? Well the problem is in addition to raising money for The CJ Foundation for SIDS and the Tomorrow’s Children’s Fund for Kids with Cancer the event also raises funds for THE IMUS RANCH; A working cattle ranch retreat for children with ailments set on his own property in New Mexico. Uhhhhh so he’s suspended but won’t start that suspension until Monday so he can raise $2 Million for his crib out west. You might as well literally slap dude on the wrist. I wasn’t even that upset by this story at first until I heard that stupidness. Oh and for anyone who wants to complain call Mark Chernoff. He is the program director of the radio station. His number is 718-707-4001. That’s his direct line. The other problem is like Imus said,
“that phrase (referring to Hoe) originated in the black community. … I may be a white man, but I know that these young women and young black women all through that society are demeaned and degraded by their own black men and that they are called that name.”
He’s deflecting the blame but he’s right. Black people, and I’m guilty, OPEN THE DOOR for racisim by showing others exactly what to say that will offend them. He could have said Nigger on the air and honestly he’d have a case for being justified. He could easily fire back saying “HOT 97 and 105 The Beat use it.” We need to stop the self hate and maybe others will stop hating us as much. Starts with me…Are you down?

- Highbrid Nation » Blog Archive » BREAKING NEWS: Imus fired by MSNBC and Now CBS Radio. Here’s what the media WON’T TELL YOU.
[...] All week Highbrid Nation has been discussing IMUS and the story the media won’t be able to tell you. From the eyes of a former co-worker. Well Wednesday the radio talk show host was told by his television syndicate, MSNBC, that it would no longer simulcast his program. Today, CBS RADIO (the company that owns WFAN-AM, my former employee) followed NBC’s lead and fired the long time morning talk show icon. CBS has canceled Don Imus’ radio show, effective immediately, after uproar over his racist and sexist comments about Rutgers women’s basketball team.CBS President and Chief Executive Officer Leslie Moonves announced the decision: “From the outset, I believe all of us have been deeply upset and revulsed by the statements that were made on our air about the young women who represented Rutgers University in the NCAA Women’s Basketball Championship with such class, energy and talent,” [...]
