Scarface is reinventing himself in Green City

Scarface is still doing what he does best. Making dope hip hop music. Only this time it’s not in the booth. Scarface is investing in a group called Green City, a collective he discovered while working out at his gym in Houston.  (SIDENOTE: Scarface works out? Hmmmm.) Face first heard the group when two professional boxers who were sparring while the groups music played in the background. Intrigued and figuring the group was new, Face approached the boxers to find out who the group was so he could buy their album.  He was surprised when he found out the boxers attended Killeen High School with members of Green City and more importantly, the group was unsigned.   Impressed by the tracks, Face put a plan into action to sign the group to his label, Underground Railroad on the spot. Â
This isn’t the first act that Scarface has discovered only while working with Def Jam many of those artists were turned away to go on to stardom at other music houses. Scarface explains ”I am the best in the business when it comes to finding raw talent. I brought Chamillionaire, Paul Wall, Lil’ Flip and TI to Def Jam, but they didn’t bite…They have the best presentation I have ever seen for a group trying to get signed.”
Green City is comprised of 7 members - Spark Dawg, Mike Hee, Yung Texxus, MJ, J. Scott, Big Spade and G-Ni. But the Green City members claim to be more than a rap group, it is also a click, and a movement in Killeen with over 50 members. Green City’s first single off the album entitled Brand New Money, will be “Like A Porn Star (Party like a Rock Star)” and featuring Mannie Fresh (him again?) Their album will street this June.  Â
They sound a little like John Brown and his Ghetto Revival (White Rapper Show) am I wrong? Like with anything though, Scarface promises the group will bring something “new” to the game. I don’t know about that but the success story should serve as inspiration to the TRUE needles in the haystack out there that do have the talent to make something of this Hip Hop nonsense.  Â
