The press release battle continues. This time it’s Microsoft Corp. that fires a shot announcing Thursday that it is unveiled a beta Web browser for mobile devices that it claims will make browsing traditional Web pages faster and easier on smartphone.
The new technology called Deepfish (leave it to the wacky software geeks) takes Web page intended for full desktop resolution and makes them easily viewable on mobile phone screens. Users can zoom in on the part of the page they want to read or click on.
Microsoft also announced that ZenZui, a Microsoft developer announced technology desinged to store and navigate bookmarked webpages on your mobile.
I’m luke-warm on the announcement. I’m was more excited yesterday when Yahoo! announced it will launch a search engine so mobile phone users can search for websites designed specifically for mobile browsers. The Deepfish technology seems cumbersome. I’ll pass. The Zen Zui seems to have some potential utility.
