Three months ago Yahoo Inc. launched OneSearch, a MOBILE search service designed to provide search results specifically formatted for mobile phones while filters out traditional web results viewable only on the internet. The only problem now is they need content.

Web sites that want their content listed in Yahoo’s mobile search engine can begin submitting material this Tuesday (April 3.) Yahoo also will begin accepting applications from Web sites interested in advertising on the network for mobile devices.

OneSearch is accessible by more than 85 percent of U.S. mobile devices. And since Yahoo has fallen far behind the leader, Google with regard to traditional web searching they hope to pioneer the mobile search expansion.

The launch comes as Apple’s new iPhone launch looms. The device promises to make it easier to look things up on the go thus forcing advertisers to spend more money promoting their products and services to mobile phone users.

Mobile advertising is expected to generate $1.5 billion in revenue this year. Within the next three months, Yahoo’s OneSearch will be a major player, displaying many of those ads to mobile Web sites accepted on it’s network.

Mobile search is good news, because I’ve tried using my phone to search while in the car, and it’s always been useless. Too slow, too hard to use, hard to read, etc. Maybe this will actually make a mobile phone online search useful!! - mikiesoft
