Dungy getting attacked by Gay activist?

Tony Dungy, coach of Super Bowl champions the Indianapolis Colts and one of the nicest and most God-fearing guys you’ll ever meet is in hot water with some gay activist groups. Dungy is being honored by the Indiana Family Institute (IFI), an organization that opposes same-sex marriage.

But instead of praise, The organization’s president, Curt Smith, reports Dungy and the org have received obscene messages and hate calls. Gay activists are pressuing Dungy not to attend and are throwing salt in by trying to pull strings at the head levels of the events sponsors. Dungy’s high profile nature in light of his recent Superbowl victory will be seen by these activist as a major setback if he attends the event.

Smith says that his group is often hated on because of their family value position. “I’ve been stunned when we stand up and say we’re for marriage, that immediately we’re called a hate group, homophobes, we’re ’small-minded bigots,’ and it’s just shocking to me.”

Normally, I wouldn’t even waste my energy on a stupid story like this. But I wanted to illustrate how silly this world can be. Here are groups that are often discriminated on because of their sexual orientation. Now they’re turning around and reflecting that same hate on a border-line religious group of all organization. They should be ashamed of themselves. I wish I knew the culprits. I would post thier pictures here and expose them for the idiots that they are.

Dungy has every right to say what he wants. In fact, I wish he would come out and say it. I’m not asking Dungy to be quiet - I’m asking him to talk about his feelings on gay marriage and gay players.

Of course, I also have a right to comment on his thoughts.

And that is the beauty of this great country we live in.

Ridiculous. While both sides have a right to make their respective statements. There is one side that should feel ashamed of their actions- and it ain’t Dungy.

But is he making a statement by ACCEPTING an award that is against Same-Sex Marriage as only PART of its platform. If he is…is it necessarily a big deal. He has a right to be opinionated even if he is a public figure.
