Confessions of a B.E.T. Producer

Fist let me say that I don’t even watch BET anymore. I’m tired of the network trying to brainwash me into thinking bad songs are good. It just seems too “corperate” and very much a carbon copy of MTV except with black people (I definately don’t watch MTV). It appears as my feelings are somewhat justified because a former B.E.T. Producer Dbrad has put up a series of videos on his MySpace page where he talks about how things work at B.E.T behind the scenes. He confirms certain things that many people already believed such as B.E.T. playing the videos it wants to play on 106 & Park no matter what people vote for. He also talks about the role B.E.T. played in breaking new artist or burying them. DBrad also shares some stories of some gay love affairs that took amongst those at the network.
Honestly I believe most of what this guy says but at times he sounds a bit silly. For instance he goes on a rant about Tupac being a prophet. Um, no. Pac was a rapper. A very influential rapper but a rapper nonetheless. Any you can check out the videos. below. Some good insider type stuff.

that was crazy! Hip Hop is dead!
I dont believe pac was a prophet from god or anything silly like that, but he was MUCH more than just a rapper. He was a special person, with much more to say than your average artist. If he had not been killed I really believe he would have been a huge figure in black america.
But anyways… the confessions video was great, its a shame BET made them take it down.
dag i didnt know they took the video down. ill try to see if i can find it elsewhere.
Also you bring up interesting views with the tupac thing. i think i may address that in a future editorial piece
