Have you noticed that corporate giants have been looking to market themselves in new and creative ways in 2007. That is part of the reason why we started Highbrid Outdoor. Earlier this week Evorgleb told you about the reviewed the movie 300 and told you about it’s marketing tactics. Well, Universal Picture’s President of Marketing, Adam Fogelson, announced Tuesday an unusual plan to try to fill theaters when its film Peaceful Warrior opens later this month. The company is giving away $15 million worth of free tickets. Yeah its not a joke.
Universal is teaming up with Best Buy, to give up to 10 free tickets PER PERSON to see Peaceful Warrior, March 30 to April 1, the weekend it opens at the box office. The flick is an inspirational joint, based on Dan Millman’s best-selling novel. But forget all that…we’re talking about the free tickets.
“We wanted to allow consumers a chance to sample the film and opted to redirect money from a traditional marketing campaign and instead purchase and provide tickets to moviegoers directly,” Fogelson said. “This truly is an example of an offer with no strings attached.” The hope is that the film, which was released last year in select theaters will generate a level of word-of-mouth street buzz. Tickets will be available HERE beginning Sunday, with the giveaway ending April 1.
