People may or may not know but at the time of Aaliyah‘s death she was filming the second and third Matrix movie. She hadn’t been in enough footage for the directors to edit around her not being there for the rest of the film. So what happened after that was Aaliyah’s parts was recast and Nona Gaye took over the roll of Zee for the two films. Personally that was a bit bettersweet for me at the time because though it was sad that Aaliyah wasn’t able to finish the movies, I thought Nona Gaye was the finest woman walking Earth and was happy to see her in a major film. Anyway, the following footage is of Aaliyah on the set of Matrix Reloaded in full costume. Also there are comments from others working on the film talking about how it was to lose Aaliyah during filming.

Wow. Thanks for posting this. I’ve never seen this before. Matrix is one of my favorite movies. I was really looking forward to when Aaliyah got cast for the film. So sad that she left when things were really looking big for her.
