Looking for an alternative to an I Pod, well look no further than the A2 from Cowon. This PMP (Portable Media Player) comes w/either a 20 gig or 30 gig hard drive and it recognizes and plays most Media File types. So no conversion necessary like with I Pods and other media Players. Play Music, Movies, View Text, and listen to FM Radio Frequencies. The Cowon A2 also doubles as a recorder you can connect an A/V cord directly from your A2 to your television and record your favorite television programs. You can also use the Audio line in cord to record directly from a CD player or other MP3 player. You can record radio directly from your A2, or if you’re a freestyle champion or beat reporter for your local paper you can use the built in MIC as a voice recorder. The Cowon has a 4’’ LCD Screen and Ion Lithium Battery that lasts 10hrs on Video play and 20hrs (YES 20 HRS) on audio playback. Getting your files on to your A2 is so easy, the A2 is plug and play for most computers (ones w/current operating systems windows 2000 and better) and it recognizes the A2 as an external hard drive and you just drag and drop your files right in. The files show up on your A2 exactly how they were on your desktop. So no wasting time importing music or setting up new folders like with Ipod, and then hoping it shows up on the screen the way it is on your computer. They are constant firmware updates to help your A2 play better and recognize more file types, and if you do want to convert file types to make them smaller or better quality your A2 comes equipped with Jetcast software which makes converting files a cinch. The drawbacks to the Cowon A2 are first and foremost they aren’t available in any retail locations you can purchase one from the Cowon website www.cowonamerica.com or on e-bay(it’ll run you anywhere from 200-400 bucks). The second drawback is the size and weight with a 4’’ LCD screen the Cowon is Roughly 5’’ long and 3’’ wide with the hard drive it becomes a very bulky piece of equipment,(Not cool if your a Gym Buff such as myself). The Cowon A2 is a great product way better than I Pod in my opinion and definitely one of my top 3 christmas gifts of all time next to my Nintendo (85’) my Tivo(03’) and now my Cowon A2 PMP.
