1905-The Cullinan diamond, weighing 114 lbs, was found by Captain Wells at the Premier Mine, near Pretoria, South Africa. The 3,106-carat diamond was cut into over 100 polished diamonds, the largest of which, the “Star of Africa” (530 carats), now resides in the Tower of London.
