The creators of The Wire have spent the entire season getting us to love their characters, blessing us with quality TV and keeping Wire fans glued to their screens. Now its time to get down to business…the Final three episodes.
We always knew that Herc was an idiot and but he’s really gotten himself in a mess now. His career status has now become the focus of Mayor Carcetti’s first major dilemma. If he has him fired, he pisses off the Police Department and if he doesn’t, the black political infrastructure will be up in arms. This is the beauty of The Wire . Bubbs, an insignificant dope fiend is having such a profound effect on Baltimore’s new mayor.
The water coolers talk this week however, was all about the hilarious prank that Michael conjures up to get back at Officer Walker for messing with him and his boys. Not quite the woopie cushion type pranks I used to run as a kid. Michael raises the stakes…he shows he’s not sucka…he introduces the heat into his game. Like Dukie from 8th Grade, he’s graduated to a higher level. No more pissy water balloons. Before Namond tosses the yellow paint on Walker, Michael notices and steals the symbolic relic of this season…THE RING. He proves he’s ready to play with the big boys like Marlo and Omar, the ring’s previous owners.
SKEE: What do you think will happen when Marlo and Chris call Michael in and see the ring on his finger? TROUBLE…trouble…trouble. Freemon’s FINALLY discovered how Chris and Snoop have been “loosing” the bodies and its about to hit the fan. Imazing how these characters are all connected but if they took Colvin’s class and learned to communicate they would have solved this a long time ago. Do you think this is the end for Prop Joe? Oh yeah and Randy’s probably got a couple more beatdowns in him before he figures out he shouldn’t snitch. TWO MORE EPISODES LEFT! From the looks of the previews…we won’t be disappointed.

That’s good. I knew the ring “mattered” but didn’t catch this — your comment helps me see Michael also square in the middle between Marlo and Omar, warring brothers. Omar has enough bodies under him (Bunk) but he’s got heart and honor, as does Michael even when he lines up with Marlo (or maybe it’s mostly Chris–where there’s an emotional connection). Marlo’s scary for all the reasons Bodie says.
