There’s never been anything more obvious but common than seeing a rich white kids or young adults in the hood trying to buy trees. Entreprenural marijuana dealers have been expanding operations recently to include house calls to white collar customers who are scared or uncomfortable traveling to the hood to get their goods.

The AP recently released a report indicating that home delivery is not a new concept but has grown exponentially in recent years as has all home delivery of goods across the board. Even McDonalds is delivering in attempt to provide added convenience to clients willing to pay extra for such service.

For the report the AP interviewed “Chris,” a Manhattan salesperson who says he dials a pager and within hours a well-groomed deliveryman shows up at his door with the requested grade of marijuana packed in a plastic container. “These are very nice, discreet people,” There’s an unspoken trust. It’s better than going to some street corner and getting ripped off or killed.”

Last year, the DEA (Drug Enforcement Administration) publicly announced a sting operation nicknamed “The Cartoon Network,” which included a sophisticated use of wiretaps, surveillance and undercover buys. Throughout New York, the DEA arrested 12 people in the drug ring, which operated a delivery service with over 600 orders a day from a very upscale clientle incuding doctors, lawyers, Wall Street traders.

Lucia, a former customer at an entertainment cable network, told how executives and employees at her former firm would pool their orders as if they were buying lunch together, then await the bulk order from a courier.

Authorities conceded the home delivery trade will probably survive because of the high demand for marijuana and the low penalties for dealing it.
