This winter Spike TV will be debuting its new series, “Afro Samurai”. The series, which is based off of a graphic novel by Takashi Okazaki, is about a black samurai who is seeking revenge for his murdered father. The voice cast includes Kelly Hu (X2), Ron Perlman (Hellboy) and of course Samuel L. Jackson providing the voice for the lead character. The series hopes to combine aspects of Japanese anime with with hip hop music and culture to provide a new and fresh viewing experience.

To bring more of a hip hop element to the series Wu-Tang producer RZA is being brought on board to provide music for the series (he has also scored such movies as Kill Bill Vol. 1 and Ghost Dog).

“Afro Samurai” debuts on Spike TV on January 4, 2007.

Evorgleb: I’m looking forward to this series. I have a feeling it will be something worth watching.
