This NFL Sunday (Oct. 8th) in Philadelphia, PA at Lincoln Field there will be battle on the gridiron between the Dallas Cowboys and the Philadelphia Eagles. The two teams facing off will actually be the side note. The main attraction will be wide receiver Terrell OwensÂ
and quarterback Donovan McNabb. The first meeting since T.O. was kicked off the Eagles for conduct detrimental to the team and just one too many slights at Eagles quarterback McNabb.
It’s necessary to keep in mind that T.O. and McNabb will not actually share the field at the same time during play; since both players play offense, but both will definitely be out to prove something. That is the fact that they are both better off without each other.
They can downplay it as much as they want to but the fact remains: This Is A Big Game. Period! A big game on many levels. First of which is the fact that the Cowboys and Eagles are NFC East division rivals. Both teams are currently vying for first place in the division. The Cowboys are 2-1 and the Eagles are 3-1; the losing team will suffer its second loss. The winner will assume the advantage of having the lead solely.Â
T.O. practically guaranteed a win without really saying he’s guaranteeing a win:
“Once we win, it will be special,” afterward saying he’s not guaranteeing a win. “We’re not going there to taste the cheese steaks. We’re not going there to visit the crack in the Liberty Bell. We’re going up there to try to win a ballgame.”
There is also a lot of hype and buzz surrounding the game which will bring more than normal media attention (especially after T.O.’s alleged attempted suicide fiasco). The winner will hold bragging rights until their next meeting in Irving, TX on Christmas Day Dec. 25th where the Cowboys will host the Eagles. More importantly both players and their respective teams want to show that they can move on and concentrate on football.
T.O. said he had the date circled since the release of the schedule so he’s definitely out to leave mark on the field. While the Eagles defense are definitely looking to leave a few marks on T.O. Both T.O. and McNabb have taken shots at each other this week by making slick remarks concerning the Oct. 8th match up. The tension is definitely in the air.
In the great words of CATMANDOO…â€Let the game be played!!!â€
