Dave Mays and Ray “Benzino” Scott will make their return into the Hip Hop publication arena. Mays and Scott were ousted from their previous magazine The Source, which they founded. Mays and Scott have announced that they will launch “Hip Hop Weekly”; a weekly magazine revolving around Hip Hop culture and its entertainers, movers and shakers.

Hip Hop Weekly will report on hip hop related topics, subjects, occurrences and happenings as they unfold. The magazine will cover fashion, sports, music, TV, film and celebrity news but from the Hip Hop perspective. The weekly will be in the vein of other weekly tabloids such as US Weekly, In Touch, and People.

Mays and Scott have enlisted a reputable and notorious group of journalism and media personalities consisting of the infamous Star & Bucwild, controversial gossip queen Wendy Williams, and ex Editor-In-Chief of Vibe magazine, Mimi Valdés.

“Star & Buc” along with Williams will each contribute columns to the publication. Valdés will assume Editor-In-Chief duties and serve as Executive Vice President.

Hip Hop Weekly hits newsstands October 16th.

this sounds very gamble to me. Wendy Williams and Star and Buckwild? I thought they were tryin to get thier journalistic credibility back but apparantly not. Its ashame, The Source used to be THE hip hop mag and a series of dumb move got them crushed by XXL (aka G-Unit Magazine). if I was Benzino I would have tried to keep from accociating my name with anything that I want to suceed.

Wow! Star n Buc Wild? I don’t know about that. Plus Wendy Williams? Ugh! I’m interested to see what type of following (readers) they’re going to have.
