In today’s age where music artists are making more money off of ringtones then they are from thier own albums it has become common place to see record labels making deals with other media companies to gain exposure and royalties for thier artists. It appears as though another such deal has just been inked between YouTube and Warner Music Group. The deal will allow users of YouTube to use Warner Music artists music in thier uploaded videos. Warner Music’s roster and catalog include such artists as Diddy, Anita Baker, Busta Rhymes, Sammy Davis Jr., Sean Paul and T.I. CEO Chad Hurley commented on the partnership saying, “By providing a new distribution opportunity, we are paving the way for media companies to harness the vast financial potential of user-generated content on YouTube.”
The new service should be availible on YouTube by the end of the year.
