According to Wikipedia, “Old School Hip Hop is the very first Hip Hop to come out of the block parties of New York City in the 1970s and early 1980s.” This is the true definition of Old School. I would even dare to include some of the stuff from later in the 1980’s. Now people use the term to describe music from as late as the early 90’s. In the words of Charlie Murphy, “Wrong, Wrong!” That stuff is way too new to be called Old School! This concept made me wonder how many people my age and younger (mid twenties on down) really know what is Old School and what is New Jack? New Jack is the late 80’s early 90’s style of music pioneered by artists like Guy’s (now BlackStreet’s) Teddy Riley, Chubb Rock, Father MC, Big Daddy Kane, and Kwame. So for all you Hip-Hop heads here is a little (10 questions) quiz to see how much you know, or should I say remember about the roots of Hip-Hop. If you do well, congratulations, but if you don’t…we promise not to tell and you can always retake it.
TeLLy: I came up with this quiz for the true die-hard Hip-Hop fans to see if they are as true as they think they are. It is not really hard but some of the questions make you think. Well at least they made me think, that is why I included them. Enjoy!

I really got 60%. Thats really depressing
I got a 60% which seems bad, but since I got into hip-hop in the late 90s (like 96-97) I guess that is good.
Yeh I’m more of a scholar in the New Jack era
I don’t think it would be fair for me to divulge my score since I did author the quiz….but you guys should have studied up, I am keeping score. LOL
