Yup, that’s right, you didn’t misread the headline. Sir Elton John, the voice behind songs like “Benny and the Jets”, “Rocket Man”, and “Candle in the Wind” is currently working with Dr. Dre and other well known hip-hop producers on his next album which will be titled The Captain and the Kid, to be released next month. Perhaps this move should not come as a complete surprise as many of Sir Elton’s songs have been sampled by r&b and hip-hop artists over the years with fantastic results. “Benny and the Jets”was sampled for Mary J. Blige’s 1999 smash hit “Deep Inside” from the self titled album, Mary. In 2001 Sir Elton John performed “Stan” with Eminem and was pretty well received. It is hard to tell just how the album will turn out, but at the very least the collaboration will be interesting.

  1. I can’t wait to hear theze 2 geniusez together. I’m still trying to find that stuff Dre did with Burt Bacharach last year.

The Stuff Dre with Burt was on Burt’s album At This Time. I think he did the drum tracks for two songs.
