While talking to Japanese magazine Dream, legendary video game creator Shigeru Miyamoto gave his thoughts on Gamecube games being rereleased for Wii. Based off the fact that the Nintendo Wii for the most part is a suped up Gamecube he feels remakes can be easy for developers as well as affordable for consumers. Miyamoto had this to say on the subject, “[GameCube titles] are sold at used shops, so we don’t feel we could sell them for full price. However, development costs have been taken care of, so we could probably sell them at a more accessible price. If we make it so that such GC to Wii remakes can be produced quickly, it’s possible that many titles will also be released from third parties.”
Nintendo themselves are already leading the way on “wiimakes”. This fall when Legend of Zelda: Twilight Princess is released for Gamecube, a Wii version will also be released with additional controller funtion added to the game.
